he Dixie Reined Cow Horse Assn. (DRCHA), an affiliate of the National Reined Cow Horse Association, was incorporated to promote and show reined cow horses in the southeastern United States. The objective is to encourage interest in reined cow horses and hold nationally sanctioned shows.  DRCHA’s desire is to attract competitors among both experienced and inexperienced riders, including youth and those who would like to improve their horsemanship, by learning the ways of the working cow horse. 

ixie is headquartered in North Central Florida near Ocala and holds sanctioned shows in different locations throughout Florida.  The assn. has an entry level program that allows riders and horses to learn the skills necessary to compete in sanctioned classes in a non-threatening environment.  Starting with fundamental horsemanship, the Dixie Competitor I class takes riders and horses to a level where they have learned flying lead changes, spins and sliding stops.  After they have earned 100 points, they graduate to the Dixie Competitor II class.  In this class, riders make flying lead changes, spin 2 ½ times and ride with Romal reins.  Upon earning 100 points in Dixie II, riders graduate from the Dixie Competitor Classes and earn a Silver Competitor buckle at the year end awards banquet.  Cow work in the Dixie classes consists of boxing only and points are accrued in competition during Dixie shows. 

ixie can provide members with a list of competent reining and cow horse trainers that can get you started or polish your cow horse skills.  Clinics are held that teach you the skills needed to improve your horsemanship and help you enter the show ring with confidence and ability.
